Blackbrook Bike Rides

There is a year-round organised group ride each Saturday morning, meeting at Blackbrook Pavilion.

This is a social paced ride, with a coffee stop intended as suitable for all abilities and as a way to meet club members.

DEVELOPMENT RIDE

We’re pleased to offer an additional regular Saturday ride designed specifically for those who are newer to cycling or looking to build up fitness at a more relaxed pace.

This is a friendly, easier-paced social ride, perfect if you're just starting out or prefer a gentler introduction to group riding. The group meets at Blackbrook Pavilion at 8:30am every Saturday.

All are welcome—come along, enjoy the ride, and build your confidence with the support of fellow club members.

Club Rides

We organise regular club rides from Blackbrook Leisure Centre, offering something for a range of abilities and goals.

Saturday Group Ride – 8:30am

Our main weekend ride typically covers around 50 miles at a moderate pace, often featuring a few hills and, more often than not, a well-earned café stop halfway.
If there’s sufficient demand, we also run a Development Ride at the same time. This is perfect for those building fitness or new to group riding. It runs at a more relaxed pace (around 12 mph) and usually covers 30–40 miles—though it can be shorter depending on the group on the day.

Wednesday Ride – 9:15am

This midweek ride offers a similar distance to the Saturday ride but at a steadier pace, averaging around 14 mph. One thing is guaranteed: there’s always a café stop, no exceptions!

Whether you're looking to train hard or ride socially, there's a group for you. New riders are always welcome!

What to bring

All club rides are for Somerset RC Tri members only. Details of each ride—such as route, distance, and pace—are often shared in advance on the members’ Facebook group, so we encourage members to check in beforehand.

If you're not yet a member but would like to join a ride, you’re welcome to come along as an invited guest. Please get in touch with a current club member or contact our admin team via email to arrange this.

To ensure your ride is safe and enjoyable, please bring the following essentials:

  • repair kit (spare inner tube, tyre levers, multi-tool)
  • pump or CO₂ inflator
  • fully charged mobile phone
  • Suitable clothing and nutrition for the conditions and duration

Being well-prepared helps keep the group moving smoothly and ensures everyone has a positive experience on the road.
