Sprint & Novice Distance Triathlon

The Taunton Deane Triathlon has been an annual event at Wellington Sports Centre since 1998.

Usually held on the 3rd weekend of May each year, entries usually open soon after 1st January and typically sell out very quickly thereafter.  [ note that in 2017 we are trialling a new, earlier  date to avoid clashes with other local events ]

7th May 2017.

The novice race comprises a 200m swim, a 12k bike section and a 2.5k run. The sprint race is over a 400m swim, 22k bike and 5k run course.

A BTF sanctioned race with chip timing, prizes are awarded to age – group winners as well as the overall fastest male and female in each race, and every competitor receives a commemorative T-shirt.

The total prize fund for the event stands at over £500 with the first placed sprint male and female overall receiving £100.

NB all competotors must be registered and racked in transition by 11am.

Entrants are also invited to attend a free Triathlon Training Day, which is hosted by Somerset RC Tri club one week before the race (30th April 2017 ) where members of Somerset RC Tri club and the race organisation team will show you around the course and answer any questions you might have about the race. This is something we do especially for first-timers, so no question is too simple - you can bet that we’ve all had to ask someone at some stage in the past!!!
