Club Championships 2009

Somerset RC Tri Championship 2009

Over the last couple of years the club has continued to grow and the split of individuals under 40 years old and over 40 years old had become disproportionate.

It was therefore agreed that new age categories would be devised for both men and women where Juniors and Seniors under the age of 35 would compete as SENIORS. Club members between the ages of 35 and 44 years old would compete as VETS and anyone of 45 and over would be classified as SUPERVETS.

The age of individuals would be taken as at the 1st January so if you become 45 before the race in question but were 44 on the 1st Jan you will still be classed as a VET for the purposed of the Club Championship. This should more evenly distribute the members between the age groups and give everyone a fair crack at the title.

The races being used to rate your performances will be:

Sprint Championship 2009

Taunton Deane Tri 17th May
Burnham Tri 14th June
Cotswold Tri 6th September
Langport Tri 20th September

We have also added a new section which recognises the fact that many in our club like to race the longer distances. So the following Olympic races have been added and results will be collated along the same age groupings as above.

Olympic championship 2009

South Cerney Olympic Tri 21st June
Bournemouth Olympic Tri 5th July
Plymouth Olympic Tri 12th July
Swanage Olympic Tri 9th August

After each race every club member is rated within the age categories with the fastest getting 1 point, the second getting 2 and so on. The best results from any three races are added and the person with the least points at the end of season is crowned the Club Champion accompanied by much weeping and fanfare at the end of season bash.

Results will be published on the club website after each race together with the combined Championship table. Clear as mud? Excellent. Good luck
