British Disabled Championships
1st June 2008

The first British Triathlon Disabled Championships on Sunday 1 June, was declared a resounding success by the national governing body and local organisers in Rotherham.

Club member, Dave Cooke triumphed in the Tri 3 Category which means a standard swim, then a cycle using a hand
bike and a run using a racing wheelchair.

The event was held at Rother Valley Country Park and was a sprint event, so 750m round the lake, then a 20K hand cycle and 5K wheelchair run.

On account of a good swim (despite turning up without a wetsuit and having to borrow one which was far too long in the legs) Dave was 8 minutes ahead out of the water and managed to retain much of this lead, finishing around 7 minutes up on the next competitor.

Congratulations to Dave on this awesome achievement.

Dave has sent in some photos from the day.
